The Bezos Earth Fund is a dynamic and fast-growing philanthropy dedicated to combating climate change and protecting nature.

Salary Range:

$175,000 - $220,000 per annum.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Global Energy Transition Specialist to lead the conception, creation, and implementation of Bezos Earth Fund initiatives on energy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the global energy sector, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide strategic and technical input into program and project concept developments, facilitating transformational change in the global energy transition.
  • To develop and implement specific activities and projects overseen by the Bezos Earth Fund, leveraging expertise in renewable energy technology solutions and project management.
  • To conduct analysis, including demand sizing, impact sizing, and cash flow modeling, to assess the potential impact of different initiatives.
  • To engage with stakeholder groups, grantees, and partner foundations to advance the Earth Fund's initiatives in energy innovation, representing the organization at high-level meetings and organizing convenings as necessary.
  • To build and strengthen strategic partnerships within the industry, research organizations, and other energy transition alliances, supporting the work of the Bezos Earth Fund's mandate.
  • To contribute innovative thinking around emerging areas of focus, driving system change to accelerate the energy transition within this decade.
  • To identify, vet, and recommend organizations for grant funding, ensuring alignment with the Earth Fund's goals.
  • To collaborate with the Director of Global Energy Innovation to prepare internal reports on project progress, highlighting attainment of outputs, KPI indicators, risk management, and best practices.
  • To manage project delivery across the lifecycle, ensuring effective coordination and timely completion.
  • To manage grant portfolios and relationships with partners/grantees, fostering productive collaboration and mutual understanding.
  • To participate in learning and evaluation activities, guiding the evolution of programmatic work and informing strategic decisions.
  • May supervise consultants, interns, or others as required, providing guidance and oversight.
  • To perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Bezos Earth Fund.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in energy engineering, environmental science, business strategy, or economics.
  • At least 10 years' experience in the global energy sector, with a proven understanding of climate and clean energy issues.
  • Strong analytical competency and quantitative skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge of renewable energy technology solutions and practical experience in renewable energy programs and project development and management.
  • Experience working in international organizations and emerging markets preferred, but not required.

This is a hybrid position based in Washington, D.C., requiring occasional domestic and/or international travel. We offer a competitive salary range of $175,000 - $220,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
