About the Role

This position is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious professional to join our team as an Assistant News Director. Reporting to the News Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the production of newscasts and special programming for all of our broadcast stations. As a key member of the newsroom leadership team, you will work closely with other Producers, Reporters, Anchors, and Assignment Editors to deliver high-quality daily news coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the creation and implementation of engaging and informative newscasts that meet the needs of our diverse audience
• Collaborate with the News Director to develop and maintain the overall news philosophy and direction for our stations
• Review and provide feedback on scripts and story ideas to ensure they align with our brand values and standards
• Manage the scheduling of news staff and oversee special projects as assigned
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance our online presence and social media engagement
• Work closely with the News Director to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance our news products and services
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the News Director

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in journalism or communications is required; a master's degree is preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in news management, with a proven track record of success in leading teams and delivering results-driven solutions
• Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments
• Familiarity with industry-standard software applications, including iNews and Xpression, is highly desirable
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail

Compensation Package:

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
