Job Summary:

As a Shelter Advocate with Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to victims of domestic violence. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, while also providing them with the resources and tools they need to rebuild their lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to residents, helping them to navigate the challenges of domestic violence and trauma.
  • Assist residents with daily tasks, such as laundry and meal preparation, to help them maintain a sense of normalcy and routine.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to resident care.
  • Provide education and support to residents on topics such as safety planning, healthy relationships, and personal boundaries.
  • Assist with the intake and assessment process for new residents, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and services.
  • Document resident progress and outcomes, using data to inform program development and improvement.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with victims of domestic violence or trauma.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Commitment to providing trauma-informed care and promoting a culture of safety and respect.
