Role Overview

We are seeking a Property Claims Specialist to join our team at The Travelers Companies, Inc. This role will involve handling first-party property claims of moderate severity and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough field inspections of losses to determine accurate scope of damages, including photographs and written estimates.
  2. Utilize innovative technologies to enhance claim handling efficiency and accuracy.
  3. Analyze relevant facts to determine coverage, damages, and liability for first-party property damage claims.
  4. Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.
  5. Determine appropriate settlement amounts based on independent judgment and negotiation with multiple stakeholders.
  6. Prepare complex correspondence, including denial letters and Reservation of Rights.
  7. Properly assess the extent of damages and manage them through cost evaluation tools.
  8. Maintain a diary system to capture all required data and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
  9. Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.
  10. Ensure compliance with state regulations, where applicable.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service to meet the needs of insureds, agents, and internal/external customers/business partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with estimating system Xactimate preferred.
  • Two or more years of previous outside property claim handling experience preferred.
  • Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills - Advanced.
  • Ability to work independently – Intermediate.
  • Judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills - Intermediate.
  • Negotiation skills – Intermediate.
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills –Intermediate.
  • Investigative skills – Intermediate.
  • Ability to analyze and determine coverage – Intermediate.
  • Analyze, and evaluate damages –Intermediate.
  • Resolve claims within settlement authority – Intermediate.
