Bereavement Counselor Job Description

At Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Bereavement Counselor to join our team. As a Bereavement Counselor, you will provide emotional support and guidance to individuals and families coping with the loss of a loved one.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and family grief counseling to help individuals cope with the loss of a loved one.
  • Develop and implement bereavement support groups and workshops to promote healing and support.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community organizations to provide comprehensive care to individuals and families.
  • Assist with training volunteers and staff on bereavement support and counseling techniques.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency referrals as needed.
Requirements:
  • Licensed as a clinical social worker or mental health counselor with at least three years of experience providing therapy.
  • Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously.
