Insurance AR Specialist

As an Insurance AR Specialist at American Vision Partners, you will play a vital role in collecting payments for assigned insurance accounts and performing follow-up duties in accordance with federal and state regulations. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be essential in ensuring timely payment processing and minimizing errors.
Responsibilities
- Follow up with insurance companies to ensure claims are paid or processed in a timely manner.
- Service each account with priority and independently bill accounts with a thorough understanding of applicable insurance and CMS regulations.
- Resubmit insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file, adhering to each insurance's contracted filing limits.
- Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims, including analysis of coding to ensure proper billing.
- Maintain demographic information accuracy to produce clean claims.
- Research and prepare insurance credits for refund approval.
- Meet departmental error rate standards.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of medical billing experience.
- Ophthalmology background preferred.
- Active knowledge of CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines, and coding policies.
- Computer literacy.
- Well-organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions.
- Excellent math skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, clinic staff, payers, and patients.
- Professional customer service skills.
- Self-discipline and dedication to work.
