Job Summary

Prince George's Community College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Art/Ceramics Instructor to join our faculty team. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching Ceramics courses and contributing to the growth and development of our Art program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Plan, organize, and teach curriculum content in conjunction with course outcomes.
  • Instructional Delivery: Using applicable technology and andragogical principles, teach course content via an appropriate delivery format (may include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote instruction).
  • Professional Development: Complete mandated institutional trainings and professional development as required.
  • Course Preparation: Follow department and division requirements for preparing a course syllabus.
  • Student Engagement and Learning: Facilitate appropriate instructional activities that promote student engagement and learning.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate student performance using assessment tools as directed by the department; inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Communication and Advising: Provide an orientation at the first-class meeting to include (as applicable) an overview of the course syllabus, an outline of course objectives, course requirements, attendance policy, grading system, textbook(s), and supplemental materials.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate class records; submit required class records by the established due date.
  • Departmental Evaluation and Assessment: Participate in departmental evaluation and course assessment processes as directed.
  • Office Hours and Advising: Follow department and division requirements for maintaining office hours, advising students, and referring students to appropriate resources.
  • Communication with Students and Faculty: Respond to student emails and phone calls within 48 hours with the exception of weekends and holidays. Maintain regular communication with students.
  • Meetings and Professional Development: Attend all required meetings.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or Higher: MFA degree (or higher) in Art/Ceramics, or a master's degree in Art/Ceramics related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Art.
  • Teaching Experience: Preferably 2 years of college teaching experience.
  • Certifications and Skills: Ability to teach Ceramics courses. (Additional opportunities to teach in other areas depending on experience may be an option such as; Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Design, Commercial Art, Visual Communications/Commercial Art/Graphic Design, Art History, Introduction to Art.)
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform a range of physical positions and mobile conditions including but not limited to occasionally moving materials 5-25 pounds.
  • Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of and the ability to teach, handle, and maintain Art/Ceramics related materials, chemicals, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
