Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Orthotist to join our team. As an Orthotist, you will be responsible for evaluating, measuring, casting, designing, and fitting custom-made lower extremity, upper extremity, and spinal orthoses. You will also measure, fit, and adjust prefabricated orthoses to meet the unique needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patient condition and determine needed treatment
- Communicate with prescribing physician to clarify expectations for orthosis and detail design options available to achieve desired outcome
- Formulate comprehensive treatment plan based on input from prescribing physician, patient and family, therapist, and other rehabilitation team members
- Select appropriate prefabricated orthosis or design custom orthosis to provide prescribed outcome to alleviate patient's limitations and enhance patient's functioning
- Measure and cast patient
- Correct and modify positive molds and provide complete design specifications for orthosis to central fabrication lab
- Fits patient with completed orthosis and adjusts as necessary to achieve optimal function
- Provides instruction to patient and family on proper use and care of orthosis
- Provides appropriate follow-up care after fitting to ensure successful treatment outcomes
- Document all patient contacts according to established departmental and hospital procedure
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Minimum 1 year managerial/supervisory experience required
- Minimum 5 years related work experience required
- Certified Orthotist - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics, Inc. (ABCOP) certification required
Estimated Salary: $85,000-$110,000 per year
