Electrical Superintendent Job Description

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead our electrical production function at our plywood mill in Madison, GA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise a team of electrical staff personnel to ensure efficient and safe electrical production.
  • Plan and assign daily work tasks to optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities to team members.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the facility.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize electrical system failures.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely solutions to ensure minimal disruption to production.
  • Work with project leaders to manage the installation of new electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all installations comply with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and manage the electrical maintenance budget to optimize resource allocation.
  • Optimize resource utilization to control costs and improve efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Implement best practices for electrical maintenance and reliability.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support overall facility performance.
Requirements:
  • Five (5) or more years of electrical experience in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or military environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including PLCs, motors, drives, and control systems.
  • Working knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel, and other PC-based production and maintenance reporting applications.
  • Experience routinely utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or other similar problem-solving tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or higher in a related technical field.
  • Previous experience in a wood products manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor.
  • Experience with power distribution, Allen Bradley PLC (studio 5000), Powerflex drive, HMI, and Robotics.
