Job Summary:

The position of Mental Health Support Specialist is an integral part of the treatment team at Kaiser Permanente. As a member of this team, you will be involved in planning, organizing, and conducting adjunctive services that promote patient well-being and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Orient patients to the hospital setting, rules, and regulations, ensuring they understand their rights and treatment plans.
  • Provide companionship to newly admitted patients, facilitating social connections and establishing a supportive network.
  • Take vital signs, monitor patient progress, and record observations in patient charts.
  • Participate in the treatment team to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions in crisis situations, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct daily community meetings with the treatment team to set goals and priorities for the day.
  • Train patients in self-help skills, such as toileting, feeding, bathing, dressing, and basic oral hygiene.
  • Develop and implement recreational and diversional activities to create a safe and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within one month of hire
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing services to clients independently
  • Knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and work rules
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year of work experience in a mental health facility or unit, involving therapeutic activities and behavioral procedures
  • Minimum one year of mental health work experience in an acute care setting
Compensation and Benefits:

This full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
