Job Summary

As a Domestic Violence Hotline Operator, you will be the initial point of contact for domestic violence victims seeking guidance and support. This role plays a crucial part in providing housing information, assistance, and reassurance to clients, ensuring they receive the help they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide housing information, support, assurance, and guidance to clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of local social services, rental procedures, tenant rights, and responsibilities.
  • Attend YWCA staff meetings and mandatory training.
  • Cover Shelter Hotline or Front Desk reception as needed.
  • Document all hotline calls received.
  • Provide transportation to clients for appointments as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean reception area and perform light cleaning of the shelter to ensure a well-maintained program space.
  • Communicate client needs with team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED; an associate degree in human services or related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet use, and database management.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Extended periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with moving furniture during apartment and room turnovers.
  • Capability to climb stairs.
