Broward County (FL) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Security Specialist to join their team. This role involves managing and coordinating security activities for the Transit Division, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Job Description:

The Senior Transportation Security Specialist will work under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences to evaluate conditions and work practices to identify and correct security matters, hazards, and exposures. The successful candidate will have experience in regulations, standards, guidance, and industry best practices of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating conditions and work practices to identify and correct security matters, hazards, and exposures
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Working with internal and external customers to mitigate identified security matters, hazards, and exposures
  • Developing and delivering security-related training
  • Supporting the Security Manager with overseeing compliance with law enforcement and contracted security
  • Responding to transit-related safety and security events as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration, or closely related field
  • Two years in a staff or administrative capacity managing special projects, programs, or business operations appropriate to the area of assignment
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License for the duration of assignment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in safety, transportation, business, public administration, or field related to area of assignment
  • FTA Transit Safety and Security Program Certification
  • ASIS Security Certification
  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute Certification
  • Law Enforcement Certification

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
