Library Experience Coordinator

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual to join our team as a Library Experience Coordinator. As a key member of our public library, you will play a vital role in creating exceptional experiences for our patrons.
This is a dynamic position that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, processing library materials, handling payments, and providing information about programs and events.
- Welcoming Patrons: Ensure that our library patrons feel welcome and connected to our services by continually looking for opportunities to engage with them.
- Material Management: Check in and process library materials as necessary, maintaining accurate records and ensuring the smooth operation of our collection.
- Financial Transactions: Accept and process fines, fees, or other payments, handling cash, credit card transactions, or other payment methods.
- Circulation Support: Assist with circulation activities, including patron orientation, creating displays, shelving, and other tasks that promote a positive user experience.
- Program Promotion: Provide information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, and other resources available at our library.
- Patron Support: Address or escalate patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management, prioritizing a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Support other departments as needed, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date on the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing the importance of intellectual freedom in a public library setting.
- Data Protection: Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records, ensuring the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our library team.
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a year of library experience is preferred but not essential.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong listening and communication abilities, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
- Customer-Focused Approach: A customer-focused approach, with a passion for connecting patrons with relevant resources and services.
- Flexible Scheduling: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend and evening shifts, to meet the needs of our patrons.
