Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our Small Appliances Laboratory in RTP, NC. This role requires candidates to be onsite Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and perform equipment and test setups for clients.
  • Examine test samples and read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, measuring instruments, and operational instructions.
  • Follow defined test plans and datasheets.
  • Evaluate test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
  • Record and explain test results and complete test reports.
  • Build and/or adapt setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.
  • Examine less complex customer samples and learn to operate appropriate tests for each case with necessary supervision/support.
  • Communicate with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
  • Operate designated machines and special laboratory equipment.
  • Initiate recommendations for new equipment designs and recommend solutions to observed test problems.
  • Operate with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.
  • May plan tests, evaluate test results, and report opinions and interpretations, as directed.
Requirements
  • Higher Secondary Education in the Trades or an Associates Program plus two to three years related experience preferred.
  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Aptitude is required.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
  • Proven ability to be innovative and creative.
  • Ability to manage multiple changing priorities and tests at any given time.
  • Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must.
