Equipment Sales Representative

The Rental Sales Representative role at Riggs CAT is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sales professional to join our team and drive revenue growth in Northwest Arkansas.
About the Job
As an Equipment Sales Representative, you will be responsible for successfully providing excellent customer service and maintaining an active client base in your respective territory by increasing rental revenue for Caterpillar and Allied equipment.
Your Key Responsibilities
- You will compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from various sources such as newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, and the Internet.
- You will travel throughout your assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or engage in discussions with customers on the sales floor or via phone.
- You will quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
- You will coordinate with store rental personnel on availability and deliverables.
- You will prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
- You will coordinate and/or participate in customer training.
- You will enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into the computer database.
- You will develop and maintain relationships with customers, including foremen, site managers, and purchasing contacts.
- You will investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries.
- You will attend trade shows.
- You will promote sales initiatives related to rental machines.
- You will continue education/training on equipment product lines offered by Riggs.
- You will monitor all rental sales activity within your assigned territory/accounts to ensure all lost sales are reported.
- You will be responsible for long-term satisfaction of customers.
- You will support team selling with all sales operations within Riggs, including parts, general line, rental, hydraulics, power solutions, etc.
Requirements and Qualifications
- You must have the ability to gather and analyze information skillfully, and sometimes develop alternative solutions.
- You must be able to work in group problem-solving situations.
- You must be able to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs.
- You must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- You must have demonstrated group presentation skills and willingness to participate in meetings.
- You must be able to set and achieve ambitious goals, demonstrate persistence, and overcome obstacles, and self-measure against standards of excellence.
- You must have tolerance for taking calculated risks to accomplish goals.
- You must show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; Promote a harassment-free environment.
- You must hold a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university (may be waived due to experience level).
- You must have 1-5 years of Caterpillar or competitor sales or rental experience.
- You must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- You must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- You must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- You must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- You must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- You must have a valid driver license and clean driving record.
