This position performs waived and non-waived tests as defined by CLIA '88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision. The ideal candidate will assist with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Perform testing in an accurate and timely manner according to established policies and performance standards.
- Responsible for startup, calibration, and accuracy of procedures and instrumentation.
- Exercise independent judgment and identify appropriate resources in performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrate comprehension of theory and clinical relevance of testing.
- Recognize and ensure validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing.
- Ensure accuracy of test results and participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.
- Ensure the appropriate use of supplies and materials and assist with inventory management.
- Communicate courteously, professionally, effectively, and accurately with internal and external customers.
- Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility).
- Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR.
- MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
