International SOS is a leading provider of medical and travel risk management services. We are seeking an experienced EMT to join our disaster response team.

Job Summary

The EMT Disaster Response Specialist will provide emergency medical care in disaster situations, working closely with nurses and paramedics to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect clinical care to patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medical services, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
  • Assessment and documentation of the patient's vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
  • Establish observable and documentable patient goals using care plans within protocols.
  • Report all changes in patient's conditions to the medical provider.
  • Proactively and independently administer basic care, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
  • Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living, as needed.
  • Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
  • Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
  • Restocking clinical and provider areas once supplies are received.
  • Cross-train to work within in the clinics, emergency room, and inpatient units.
  • On-call rotation schedule participation as needed.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Minimum of two (2) years of EMT experience.
Education Required
  • Current and unrestricted EMT license from state of residence and National Registry EMT to provide healthcare within scope of practice.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Physical Demands
  • Work is normally performed in Austere conditions.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications
  • US Citizen.
  • Current State License; National Registry Emergency Technician certification.
  • Live near a major airport.
  • Be able to respond to the site within 72 hours.
  • Clear a Child Neglect and Abuse Check and other background requirement.
