Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced After School Program Director to lead and manage an After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and dynamic program environment that educates, enlightens, and inspires youth in an after-school setting.

About the Role: As an After School Program Director, you will supervise all staff and volunteers at the ASAS-LA site, provide access to meaningful professional development opportunities, and assist site staff in embedding the ASAS-LA Mission and Vision into daily practices. You will also be responsible for providing a safe and adequate program environment, overseeing day-to-day programming, and recruiting, hiring, and supervising effective program staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all staff and volunteers at the ASAS-LA site
  • Provide access to meaningful professional development opportunities
  • Assist site staff in embedding the ASAS-LA Mission and Vision into daily practices
  • Provide a safe and adequate program environment
  • Oversee day-to-day programming
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise effective program staff
  • Responsible for scheduling site staff and approving payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Responsible for submitting check requests, purchasing supplies, reconciling program supply budgets, and updating inventory on a quarterly basis
  • Daily review of student sign-in sheets and deadline submission protocol as stated by ASAS-LA
  • Responsible for maintaining student participation and average daily attendance throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organization
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders
  • Familiarity with quality criteria for after-school programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Proof of clearance for DMV H-6 and Tuberculosis
  • Must clear Drug Test and DOJ/FBI Live Scan
  • Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable
  • Must possess a High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or related field is desirable or equivalent work experience in education, youth development, and/or human services
  • Experience in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations including parents, staff, and students

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 per year
