Job Summary

The Substance Abuse Counselor I provides services to individuals experiencing addictive disease and serious mental illness. This includes assessment, recovery-focused treatment planning, group and individual training, and group and individual counseling. The counselor may also provide crisis intervention and service coordination/linkage to community services for substance abuse treatment. The role requires working in various settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and develop recovery-focused treatment plans for individuals with addictive disease and serious mental illness
  • Provide group and individual training and counseling services
  • Offer crisis intervention and service coordination/linkage to community services
  • Work in various settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community settings

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Required certification: CAC-II, DACD CCADC, GCADC (II, III) or actively working towards certification
  • Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences preferred
