Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Seminole County, FL. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to our animals, ensuring their health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care and Handling: Physically examine all incoming animals for signs of injury or illness and alert the Veterinarian when medical treatment is necessary.
  • Medical Procedures: Administer medications in the form of injectable, oral, or topical as directed, and perform euthanasia of animals under the direction of the Veterinarian.
  • Lab Work: Collect and test blood, urine, and fecal samples, and maintain all lab machines and equipment.
  • Surgical Support: Prepare surgical equipment and assist with anesthesia administration and monitoring for shelter pets undergoing surgery.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and drug logs.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory of medications, surgical supplies, and kennel supplies.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED and two years' experience as a Veterinarian Technician or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Florida Animal Control Association Officer Certification, Florida Animal Control Association Euthanasia Certification, and Crematorium Certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Skills: Knowledge of animal behavior, signs and severity of common animal diseases, and medications used to prevent common communicable diseases, euthanize, and tranquilize animals.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to handle animals of various sizes and demeanor in a safe and effective manner, and be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
