The Assistant Principal will be instrumental in supporting program directors in implementing school instructional practices that maximize opportunities for scholars to meet high academic and social/emotional goals as set forth by our vision. This role requires collaboration and building strong trusting relationships with the Principal, other Settlement and School leaders, staff, community leaders, families, partners, and volunteers.

School Leadership Responsibilities

  • Ensure fulfillment of our vision and mission through effective leadership and strategic planning.
  • Promote clear alignment and infusion of Settlement Programming across all areas of the school.
  • Act as a champion for Rowe Elementary and Northwestern University Settlement at all times, fostering a positive reputation and brand image.
  • Assume principal duties in the absence of the Principal, ensuring seamless continuity of operations.
  • Co-manage K-8 school design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Co-lead school staff and faculty recruitment, hiring, and retention processes.
  • Oversee management of all school personnel, including Program Teams, Operations Teams, Instructional Teams, and others.
  • Lead and manage school projects, prioritizing resources and allocating tasks effectively.
  • Participate in budget allocations and fiscal planning, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Attend leadership meetings and assume lead roles as needed, driving decision-making and progress.

Instructional Leadership Responsibilities

  • Help oversee instructional planning and implementation, ensuring academic excellence and social/emotional growth.
  • Manage teams to achieve academic and social/emotional success, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Co-manage Performance Management Cycle, aligning evaluations with school goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage school schedules, optimizing time and resource allocation.
  • Co-lead Summer Launch planning and implementation, enhancing scholar experiences and outcomes.
  • Oversee planning and implementation of After-School Academy and Summer Academy programs.
  • Provide professional development opportunities, enhancing teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Support Tier 1 Discipline, maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Lead the MTSS Team, promoting multi-tiered systems of support and intervention.

Community Leadership Responsibilities

  • Represent Rowe Elementary at board meetings, engaging with stakeholders and advocating for school interests.
  • Represent the school at external and internal functions, promoting visibility and partnerships.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated salary: $125,000 - $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
