Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist to join our team at Childrens Hospital Of The Kings Daughter. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing specialized respiratory care to neonates and children in various settings, including critical care, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency departments.

You will assess patient conditions based on medical history, observation, examination, physician's diagnosis, laboratory findings, and other diagnostic procedures.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize care based on assessments and develop solutions to problems concerning patient's mental or physical well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient condition and develop a personalized respiratory care plan
  • Administer diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate therapeutic responses
  • Maintain artificial airways and provide mechanical ventilation as needed
  • Initiate patient and caregiver teaching as appropriate
  • Complete necessary documentation related to patient care treatments and recommendations
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • An American Heart Association (AHA) certification such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • An American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) certification such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • CPR training
  • An Associate degree in respiratory care/therapy
  • At least 2 years of pediatric experience, including experience in the PICU and/or NICU
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards. You may be exposed to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.

Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
