About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified University Supervisor to join our team at the University of Kansas, Department of Special Education. This is an adjunct faculty member position in the School of Education and Human Sciences (SOEHS).

Job Summary

The University Supervisor will serve as the liaison between the SOEHS and early intervention or early childhood education providers where teacher candidates are placed for their student teaching/internship. The primary function of the university supervisor is to provide guidance for the teacher candidate in their development of teaching competency and to give assistance to the clinical supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic guidance and support to teacher candidates during their student teaching/internship experience
  • Serve as a liaison between the SOEHS and early intervention or early childhood education providers
  • Conduct regular observations and conferences with teacher candidates to assess their progress and provide feedback
  • Assist the clinical supervisor in developing and implementing individualized plans for teacher candidates
  • Collaborate with other university supervisors to ensure consistency in supervision practices
Requirements
  1. A master's degree in Education or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in early childhood education or special education
  2. Experience observing and evaluating teaching performance
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and university faculty
  4. Basic technology knowledge, including Microsoft Office and electronic video communication
Working Conditions

The University Supervisor will be required to travel to multiple school settings within a 50-mile radius of Lawrence, KS. They will also need to be available to observe and conference with teacher candidates during traditional childcare and/or school hours (e.g., 7am-6pm CST).

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
