Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Outpatient Registered Nurse to join our team at the US Department of Health and Human Services. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a wide range of health conditions and across the age spectrum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the outpatient department and/or field clinics.
  • Administer medication and therapeutic treatment measures and care procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Observe and document patient condition, changes, and reactions to medications and medical treatment.
  • Use appropriate medical supplies and/or equipment, such as 12-lead EKGs, fetal monitor, pulse oximeter, blood glucose meters, nebulizers, monitoring devices (cardiac monitors, oxygen monitors, etc.).
  • Closely observe patients for conditions that may require emergent measures; recognize, identify, and interpret serious clinical situations; provide appropriate immediate emergency measures.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care and support activities across the healthcare continuum.
Requirements
  • A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above).
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments in emergency situations. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required. The selected individual must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation documentation must be cleared prior to hire.
