Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant is a vital member of the healthcare team at Palisades Medical Center, providing clinical care to patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare exam rooms, treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments for patient care.
- Assist patients with preparation for physician visits and examinations as directed.
- Take patient vital signs and record them in the medical chart.
- Understand and operate special equipment, including EKG, PFT, Audiometry, and Titmus Test.
- Perform lab testing, such as UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other tests as indicated.
- Maintain accurate patient records and reports.
- Assist with collections and billing procedures as needed.
- Utilize computer software to maintain office systems and identify patient needs.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- AHA BLS certification.
- One of the following certifications: CMA-NHA, CMA-NCCT, CMA-AAMA, RMA-AMT, RMA-NAHP, AMCA, or NCMA.
Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, interact effectively with varying populations, and maintain confidentiality. The float requirement involves cross-covering other offices within a 2-mile radius to provide adequate care to patients.
