Job Summary

Brasfield & Gorrie is seeking a skilled Field Engineer to join our team. As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting field layouts and surveying activities, establishing exterior-interior grade and working lines for contractors or crafts, and assisting in the evaluation of potential dimensions and other field problems.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Conduct field layouts and surveying activities to ensure accurate and efficient construction processes.
  • Establish exterior-interior grade and working lines for contractors or crafts to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential dimensions and other field problems to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution.
  • May supervise a Rodman and/or crew to ensure effective and efficient project execution.
  • May oversee some subcontractor work activities, as assigned, to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Must adhere to safety protocol and work in a drug-free environment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or Survey Crew Chief is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general contract and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, and surveying instruments is required.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights, frequently lift materials weighing up to 70 lbs, and work in outside all weather conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, shop drawings, procedure manuals, and safety rules is required.
  • Experience with data collectors, electronic or robotic total stations, digital levels, tripod, prism, Carlson explorer, Carlson software, computers is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing is essential.
  • Higher math skills (algebra and trigonometry) are required.
