The role of the bedside RN is crucial in delivering essential support through direct patient care, ensuring appropriate care tailored to various age groups in both acute and elderly care environments.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes the nursing process to provide safe and high-quality patient care, documenting actions accurately.
  • Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities in the absence of the RN, adhering to the scope of practice.
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and guidelines as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator.
  • Collaborates with clinical team members to facilitate patient admissions at the bedside.
  • Independently manages discharges for assigned patients.
  • Administers treatments, tests, and procedures, including IV therapy, as permitted by licensure.
  • Keeps a detailed record of patient care activities performed.
Educational Duties:
  • Informs patients and families about medications, diagnostic tests, and treatments.
  • Provides education to patients and families, serving as a resource for staff and new hires.
  • Stays updated on new medications and treatments to ensure patients and families are well-informed for ongoing care.
Communication Skills:
  • Maintains effective communication with multidisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Participates in daily team meetings to ensure proper task assignments and identify team members for the shift.
Professional Development:
  • Maintains nursing competency by staying informed of evolving trends in the field.
  • Completes required continuing education hours through online and classroom settings.
  • Familiarizes with policies, procedures, patient education resources, and performance improvement initiatives.
