Job Description:

The Inventory Accounting Manager Lead provides strategic business partnering and financial accounting leadership for global inventories. Responsibilities include developing and managing the Inventory Center of Excellence, overseeing inventory governance, internal controls, and compliance with policies and procedures. This role also involves managing monthly/quarterly accounting and reporting close activities, including inventory valuation, reserves, and adjustments; reporting and inventory KPI updates; account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts; inventory accruals and adjusting journal entries; and validating the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close and reviews inter-company profit eliminations.

This position requires implementing and/or overseeing processes to coordinate, organize, and perform cycle counts and complete physical inventory reviews with business unit management. It also involves reviewing inventory count variances, researching and resolving issues; performing quantitative trend analyses and period-over-period fluctuations analyses; identifying/explaining variances to ensure proper reporting and identifying opportunities for inventory accounting efficiencies and working capital improvements.

The Inventory Accounting Manager Lead partners with FPA to forecast inventory balances and other inventory-related financial statement metrics. They create various monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory reports for management review as needed, establish standardized reporting fully embedded within the organization, including service level agreements, KPIs, and dashboards. Regular meetings with key finance, operations, and procurement stakeholders are required to discuss issues and focus on inventory drivers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in business, management, or a related discipline. A CPA or Master's degree is preferred. Ten or more years' experience in accounting and finance is required, with six to eight years of experience in finance management, specifically with inventory and material costing responsibilities. Experience in complex inter-company inventory transitions and supervisor experience are also necessary. SAP experience is preferred.

A proven track record of people leadership experience in managing a small team for at least three years is required. Strong experience with revenue and cost recognition in accordance with US GAAP is essential. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage workload and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, are necessary. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and strong Microsoft Excel skills are also required. Self-starters with the ability to work independently and strong analytical, interpersonal, and collaboration skills will thrive in this position.
