Job Summary

The State of Iowa is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Penitentiary Administrator to lead our male maximum-security facility in Fort Madison, Iowa. This is a non-merit position that requires strong leadership and administrative abilities.

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned professional with at least five years of management experience in a correctional or related field. As a Penitentiary Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility, ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff, and implementing effective policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing operational plans to ensure the efficient management of the facility;
• Maintaining a safe and secure environment for inmates and staff;
• Overseeing the recruitment, training, and development of staff;
• Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards;
• Collaborating with other departments to achieve organizational goals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;
• A minimum of five years of full-time management experience in a correctional or related field;
• Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
