Job Description

The Chief Financial Strategist will play a vital role in overseeing all accounting and financial functions. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Direct supervision of the monthly close process
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual billings to clients for services provided
  • Billing reimbursements from clients and collection of accounts receivable
  • Supervision of accounts payable, payroll, and monthly reporting to the parent company
  • Preparation of a reforecast and budget on an annual basis

You'll be part of a collaborative team that develops and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues. You'll also work to enhance the close and reporting processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

As our ideal candidate, you'll have:

  • Preparation of the annual budget and subsequent year forecast
  • Coordination of audits with outside CPA firms
  • Implementation of a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget
  • Review of journal entries to reflect monthly activity
  • Analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, year-to-date balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Preparation of a monthly reforecast incorporating historical results and future assumptions
  • Supervision of permitted reimbursements from clients through the accounts payable process and billing these reimbursements to clients
  • Cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize returns on excess cash balances
  • Leadership and direction of the Finance Team, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Accurate and timely production of financial information, including analytical reviews of asset operations
  • Preparation of an annual costing model and monthly customer project profitability reports
  • Presentation of financial materials to the Board of Directors, Global Management Team, and internal teams

You'll possess a strong educational background and relevant experience in accounting and finance, with a proven track record of leadership and strategic thinking.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting
  • 5+ years of experience managing accountants and the accounting and finance process
  • 5+ years in a position equivalent to a controller or higher responsibilities
  • 3+ years of experience working as a controller for a service provider, preferably in the real estate industry
  • Knowledge of publicly traded corporate financial regulations (a plus)
  • Experience in Life Science pharmaceuticals (a plus)

Additionally, you'll demonstrate:

  • Thorough understanding of general accounting principles
  • Knowledge of best practices and internal controls
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) and Microsoft Suite or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving results
  • Proficient meeting and training facilitation skills
