Strategic Lending Operations Leader

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Lending Operations Leader to oversee and optimize all aspects of our credit union's back-office lending operations.
This pivotal role involves strategic planning, process improvement, and team leadership, ensuring the efficient and compliant execution of lending activities.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior leaders, particularly those in loan production and origination, to align lending strategies with organizational goals and enhance Member satisfaction.
In addition, the individual will be accountable for underwriting, credit risk management, internal controls, process efficiency, and compliance with regulations and credit union lending policies.
About the Role:
- Lead Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic vision for lending operations, ensuring alignment with the credit union's mission and objectives.
- Optimize Processes: Continuously identify and implement strategies to enhance lending processes, improve efficiency, and drive growth across all products.
- Foster Partnerships: Establish and maintain internal and external partnerships to optimize business performance, enhancing Member growth and experience.
- Develop High-Performing Teams: Lead and mentor a high-performing team, setting clear goals, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting staff professional development.
- Engage with Industry and Community: Build strong industry and community relations by participating in credit union systems, civic, charitable, and community activities.
Requirements:
- Leadership Experience: A minimum of 8 years in lending operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within the financial services industry, preferably in a credit union or similar institution.
- Mortgage Sales and Service Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Mortgage Sales and Service, including Centralized Lending Programs, Commercial Real Estate/C&I, and consumer lending practices.
- Secondary-Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of secondary-market programs, specifically in FHLB, Freddie Mac, SBA, and USDA programs, is highly desired.
- Regulatory Compliance: Extensive knowledge of state and federal lending laws and regulations, including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, and other relevant legislation, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risks.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with lending software and technology systems.
- Licensing and Registration: Ability to qualify and maintain NMLS Registration (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System).
