Job Title: Air Freight Manager

JAS is a leading international supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage, and other supply chain management services.

Job Summary:

The Air Freight Manager will be responsible for airfreight operations and negotiations with carriers to grow import and export volumes at the national level. This role will support the Sales department and Operational department in selling export air freight and resolving operational issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage airfreight statistics and relationships with IATA at the national level.
  • Oversee all airfreight operations and customer service solutions.
  • Develop awareness of key export and import vertical markets to work closely with M&S development.
  • Monitor profit and loss development in air export products.
  • Negotiate carrier services for export in accordance with local sales and regional contracts.
  • Contribute to meeting targets for major export air trade lanes in cooperation with M&S and OPS.
  • Drive growth and profitable export air business development.
  • Support the sales team to achieve growth targets.
  • Set up budget guidelines for the country in air freight products.
  • Support the achievement of export air volume in accordance with the country budget.
  • Work closely with partners and sales teams to define necessary products to achieve targets.
  • Allocate achievement performance with carriers on export air.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Cooperate with the operational department to resolve operational issues.
  • Build relationships with customers and carriers.
  • Visit customers and potential customers with the sales team for technical purposes.
  • Develop new business and opportunities in export airfreight, regional business, and tailored solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Recommend hiring, firing, and promotion.
  • Identify and resolve personnel issues.
  • Coach and mentor staff to develop skills.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.
  • Effective leadership skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in transportation, ocean freight, or international business preferred or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience handling air freight products.
  • 3+ years of experience working with gateways.
  • Knowledge and experience in air freight operations duties (import and export).
  • Knowledge in planning and cost control in air freight products.
  • Marketing and sales-oriented capabilities and business development.
  • Highly motivated leader with experience in a competitive, challenging, and fast-paced work environment.
