Job Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for performing high-quality repairs to customer equipment and making recommendations for further services as needed. This role requires a strong understanding of truck repair and maintenance, as well as excellent communication skills to work effectively with customers and colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive repair order assignments from the Shop Foreman and perform work in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Advises the Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
  • Determine if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer and communicate such recommendations to the Shop Foreman.
  • Maintain a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer's equipment.
  • Perform additional repairs required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician's faulty workmanship.
  • Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on the job.
  • Ability to work overtime if needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent.
  • Preferred 2-year college diesel program or equivalent.
  • 2 years Working knowledge of truck repair and maintenance.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Good judgment.
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely.
  • Driver's License and good driving record.

Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding position. The Service Technician will stand six to eight hours per shift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. The Technician will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds, use hand and power tools, hoist, and test equipment. The Technician will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
