Job Summary

The CDL Rigger supports the crane operators on job tasks before, during, and following the operation of the crane, ensuring safe lifting of the load.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate within DOT laws and regulations.
  • Represent the company professionally.
  • Assist the crane operator in the maintenance of the crane and accessory equipment.
  • Assist the crane operator in the proper set-up/tear-down of the equipment.
  • Inspect truck and trailer and fill out truck inspection report before operating the vehicle.
  • Report mechanical defects in writing on the truck and/or trailers to the shop technician or a supervisor.
  • Monitor inventory of the chains, boomer, and straps assigned to the truck and report to the supervisor of missing equipment.
  • Inspect, clean, and perform maintenance on chains, boomer, and straps.
  • Monitor the annual State inspection and State license plates and report to the supervisor one month in advance before the expiration date.
  • Assemble and install supporting structures, rigging, hoist, and pulling gear.
  • Connect pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts, shackles, and clamps.
  • Clean and dress machines and surfaces of parts.
  • Control movements of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
  • Dismantle, maintain, and store rigging equipment.
  • Manipulate rigging lines, hoist to move or support materials, steel, and concrete.
  • Select gears, cables, and shackles according to load size, facilities, and work schedule.
  • Signal or give direction to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
  • Inspect rigging to ensure safety and reliability before engaging in hoisting and lifting.
Requirements:
  • General Crane's knowledge.
  • Excellent mechanical reasoning.
  • Good perception of math applications, weights, measurement, and balance.
  • Flexibility with your schedule, able to travel, and able to work overtime.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Rigging experience required.
  • Knowledge of crane hand signals required.
  • Flexibility to travel is a must, which may include weekends and overnight stays.
  • Communication Skills.
  • Reasoning Ability.
Education:
  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • OSHA 10-preferred.
  • NCCCO Rigger a plus.
