Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at BayMark Health Services. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

About the Role
This position is responsible for scheduling appointments, verifying patients' information, preparing medical records, and greeting patients upon arrival. Additionally, you will be assisting practitioners with treatment, collecting lab samples, and maintaining accurate patient records. If you have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a non-judgmental attitude, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:
  • Schedule intake appointments, record and verify patient information, and prepare medical records on new and returning patients.
  • Welcome patients, escort them to and from the waiting area, interview patients, and take vital signs, recording information in electronic charts.
  • Assist the Medical Director/Program Physician/Nurse Practitioner with patient intakes as needed.
  • Collect blood specimens and non-blood specimens like urine, sputum, for laboratory testing.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides.
  • Act as a receptionist, perform secretarial duties, and maintain reports and records.
  • Triage and manage phone contacts, questions, and fax messages.
  • File lab results into binders and distribute them to counselors.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18.
  • Must be certified or registered as a Medical Assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience is necessary, as it is a required skill.
  • Possess CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Familiarity with State Regulations, DEA regulations, and TJC and/or CARF Accreditation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with working knowledge of MS Office and patient management software.
  • Ability to establish positive rapport with patients and demonstrate a non-judgmental attitude towards Substance Use Disorder populations.
  • Prior healthcare experience in a similar field and environment is preferred.
  • A satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check are required.
