Event Sales Director Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Event Sales Director to join our team at Stage Right Capital in Columbia, SC. This is a full-time hybrid role that requires a unique blend of sales, marketing, and event management skills.

About the Role:

  • This is a highly competitive salary job with a compensation package estimated to be around $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of sales experience in the hospitality or special events industry, as well as 3+ years of team leadership experience.
  • They will be responsible for networking, researching, and cold-calling potential clients to create new business opportunities, managing client relationships, creating event proposals and budgets, negotiating contracts, and overseeing special event staff.
  • The successful candidate will also be skilled in interpersonal communications, organization, financial knowledge, and team building, with a passion for what they do and how they do it.

Responsibilities:

  • Network and research potential clients to create new business opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships and build/generate new leads to increase the size of the potential client database.
  • Oversee special event staff, including supervising bar, wait, and security personnel, and ensure they adhere to company policy regarding rentals and special event execution.
  • Utilize CRM platform to follow up with clients and maintain business relationships.
  • Negotiate deal terms and pricing, and work with legal to prepare and execute contracts and letter agreements.
  • Create competitive pricing models that drive maximum revenue for the venue, track sales, and devise plans to reach annual goals.
  • Develop strategic collateral materials, online marketing, and other strategic tools to generate activity.
  • Train and manage special event staff alongside management, and ensure they adhere to company policy regarding rentals and special event execution.
  • Monitor changes in the sales/special events industry and develop strategies to improve and adjust to those changes.
  • Become involved in local and national outside organizations directly related to the hospitality industry.
  • Attend local trade shows, participate in sales blitzes, and other off-site sales efforts.
  • Oversee all departmental accounting paperwork, meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial goals, and provide weekly reports to the GM on corporate sales trends, bookings, sales recaps, and department productivity.
  • Submit monthly reports to the GM and corporate team, including special event revenue reports, forecasts, revenue pipelines, talent costs, event export reports, revenue breakdowns, and lost business.
  • Provide a positive and creative team environment within the department, maintain open communication, handle conflict resolution with staff, conduct evaluations of staff, outline goals, monitor progress, maintain action plans, propose/raise recommendations, and ensure staff training is complete and satisfactory.
