Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in the patient care team at Middlesex Health. Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the MA performs various clinical duties and assists Providers to ensure timely and effective care for each patient. The MA maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times and may also perform general clerical or administrative tasks as directed.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome patients to the practice and escort them to the exam room
Interview patients to verify the reason for their visit, obtain medical information, and measure vital signs
Document all patient information in the Electronic Health Record according to policies and procedures
Confirm and record allergies, current medications, and refills required
Assist Providers with patient exams and procedures as directed
Perform phlebotomy, collect blood and other specimens, and document procedures in the EHR
Prepare treatment rooms, keeping them clean and stocked
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies appropriately
Manage patient messages and prepare prescription refill documents for Provider review and signature

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Medical Assisting Certification
Knowledge of medical terminology and medications
Excellent customer service and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

1 year experience working with electronic health records
1 year office-based physician practice experience
