Job SummaryWe are seeking a qualified candidate to join our faculty pool as an adjunct instructor for Philosophy. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies and teaching various courses via on-ground, online, hybrid, or web-enhanced modalities.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Philosophy from an accredited institution and possess experience in collegiate-level teaching. Knowledge of instructional delivery modes, effective communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are also essential.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses as assigned, including evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses
- Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus prior to the first day of class
- Regularly check VSCC email and departmental mailbox, responding to emails/messages within 48 hours
- Submit final grades by the deadline established by the Registrar
- Complete required College trainings and reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, and surveys
- Advise the Department Chair if unable to teach a class and attend meetings as requested
A minimum of a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Philosophy from an accredited institution is required. Collegiate-level teaching experience and knowledge of instructional delivery modes are highly desirable.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $675 - $800 per credit hour. Applicants may be subject to a background check. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the application process, but official transcripts will be required upon hire.
