Overview

Houston Methodist Hospital seeks a highly skilled Senior Hand and Upper Extremity Therapist to join our dynamic team. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in evaluating and developing therapy plans for hand and upper extremity diagnoses.

Estimated Salary: $83,500 - $113,000 per yearAbout the Role

We are looking for an experienced Physical or Occupational Therapist who is certified as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and has a strong background in treating patients with hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and develop comprehensive treatment plans for hand and upper extremity diagnoses.
  • Provide education to patients and their families on proper wound care, splinting, and exercise techniques.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to modify treatment plans and achieve patient goals.
  • Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced hand therapists.
  • Teach and provide guidance to assistants and technicians.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body.
  • Completion of a Houston Methodist or comparable Occupational or Physical Therapy Residency program, or three years of experience as a Physical or Occupational Therapist.
  • State licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mastery of hand therapy techniques and modalities.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs).
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare and insurance guidelines.
