Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a part-time Clinic Assistant to work in Coral Gables, FL. The successful candidate will perform a variety of clerical duties associated with patient care unit operations, including administrative tasks, patient record management, and communication with healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, complete, and process patients' charts, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
Transcribe doctors' orders and verify chart completeness, bringing issues to the attention of the healthcare team.
Order and maintain unit supplies, ensuring a smooth operation of the clinic.
Assist with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies, ensuring timely delivery to the unit.
Obtain laboratory and x-ray reports, notify doctors of results, and maintain accurate records.
Utilize IDX RIS/PACS to track patient arrival times and advise front desk personnel of delays.
Greet patients, verify patient information, and ensure a smooth patient flow.
Document equipment issues and report to managing staff, ensuring prompt resolution.
Assist with copying patient paperwork, delivering originals to the front desk, and distributing copies to reading rooms.
Respond to telephone calls and inquiries from visitors, providing timely and accurate information.
Report unusual incidents to supervisory personnel, ensuring a safe and secure work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 6 months of relevant experience.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure, meeting deadlines.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Commitment to the University's core values and ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Department Specific Functions

The Clinic Assistant will assist physical and occupational therapists with treatment procedures, communicate with departmental teams, and participate in quality and safety improvement activities. The successful candidate will also maintain a safe and clean work area, stock linen, and prepare treatment areas between patients.
