Clinical Pharmacist

The Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at Maine Medical Center provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department. Key responsibilities include collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and cost-effective pharmacotherapy. The ideal candidate will have a Pharm.D. from an accredited College of Pharmacy and pharmacist licensure eligibility to practice in the State of Maine. A PGY1 Pharmacy residency is preferred, as is experience in emergency medicine or critical care pharmacy. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills to identify and resolve problems related to drug therapy, and the ability to work in an organized healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and cost-effective pharmacotherapy.
- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Educate patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to enhance clinical competency on all topics related to the use of medication therapy.
- Provide direction to pharmacy technicians, students, and residents to ensure optimal medication management.
- Evaluate medication use processes and current literature to drive continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- Pharm.D. from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Pharmacist licensure eligibility to practice in the State of Maine.
- PGY1 Pharmacy residency preferred.
- Emergency medicine or critical care pharmacy residency or experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills to identify and resolve problems related to drug therapy.
