About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Works Operations Specialist to join our team at the City of Frisco, TX. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in utility operations and computer systems.

Job Summary

As a Public Works Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) automated computer operation of the Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed System, and Irrigation Wells. You will also direct on-call personnel to troubleshoot system problems and provide backup assistance to other city divisions and departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor Utilities System operation and control system with online computer system
• Direct on-call personnel to troubleshoot system problems as needed
• Answer after-hours phone calls and dispatch on-call personnel
• Provide direction to contractors working around facilities
• Take hour meter, flow meter, chlorine, and chloramine readings daily
• Inspect all pump stations, elevated storage tanks, wastewater lift stations, control valve sites, irrigation well sites, and generators daily
• Provide backup assistance, on-call coverage, and support to other city divisions and departments
• Assist office personnel as backup for telephones, customer service, ordering, and disbursing office supplies

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years of computer database and/or troubleshooting experience
• Class II Wastewater and Class C Water Distribution Certification
• Valid State of Texas Driver's License
• Ability to work a 12-hour night shift, holidays, and weekends as required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Trakit, Cityworks, Autocad, and ESRI software
