The professional role of the RN is exemplified by qualities of leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • The RN provides care that establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family, encompassing an understanding and integration of cultural and diversity into practice.
  • The RN includes communicating and working collaboratively with the patient, family, and healthcare team members.
  • The RN respects the patient's values, preferences, expressed needs, and knowledge of the healthcare situation in holistic data collection, formulating healthcare outcomes, and evaluating progress.

The RN practices ethically, collaborates with patients and other stakeholders, leads within the professional practice setting, and contributes to quality nursing practice.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Licensed and registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
  • Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.

This role requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing, and touch. The RN may be exposed to infectious diseases and will encounter physical, mental, and emotional illness as well as end-of-life conditions and death. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care are expected.

Estimated Salary: $68,000 - $110,000 per year
