We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Patient Access Specialist in our Specialty Clinics department. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth registration process for patients, from data entry to billing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Entry and Billing: Enter charges for services, patient demographics information, and billing insurance details into the EPIC system with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Cash Handling and Customer Service: Collect co-payments, deposits, and other payments, issue receipts, and balance cash drawers while providing exceptional customer service via phone and in-person.
  • Patient Identification and Verification: Properly identify patients to minimize errors associated with misidentification, ensuring clean claims and efficient billing processes.
  • Documentation and Communication: Complete documentation for uninsured patients seeking emergency care, coordinate bed assignments, transfers, and discharges, and maintain open communication with nursing units and supervisors.
  • Insurance Verification and Authorization: Verify and update patient insurance information, call insurance companies for treatment authorization and benefit information, and disseminate direct admit information to other Patient Access personnel.
Requirements:
  • No High School Diploma or Equivalent Required; No prior experience necessary.
  • Strong Organizational and Attention to Detail Skills; Effective communication, problem-solving, and prioritization abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EPIC System; Ability to type 25 wpm and work collaboratively with a team.
