Job Summary:
The EAC Network is seeking a Peer Specialist to work part-time for the Alternative for Youth program. As a Peer Specialist, you will provide peer support to families and assist the Case Management unit in all aspects of its operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide peer support, including home visits, telephone reassurance, advocacy, and encouragement for clients.
- Participate in monthly recreational events or take clients on recreational outings.
- Assist with facilitating Teen Enrichment adolescent groups.
- Ensure clients receive required visits per month as per Director.
- Transport clients/families from appointments or to obtain emergency resources as needed.
- Complete written reports and progress notes in a timely manner regarding clients' progress.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and required training.
- Facilitate and develop monthly educational workshops for adolescents as assigned by the Director.
- Hold weekly female and male adolescent groups as assigned by the Director.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or educational equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of criminal justice issues, mental illness, substance abuse, and/or adolescent behavior preferred.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems.
- Must have access to automobile and possess valid New York State drivers license.
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
