Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess basic math knowledge and strong verbal and written communication skills to provide direct patient care activities in the emergency department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or medical providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care activities under the supervision of the nursing or medical staff and according to department/hospital policy.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene.
  • Collect specimens, perform venipuncture/phlebotomy, obtain EKGs, and insert intravenous (IV) catheters.
  • Assist in the measurement and documentation of patient's vital signs, height and weight, pulse oximetry, and other pertinent data or information in the patient's health record.
  • Maintain the comfort, privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of each patient in the delivery of services.
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant from the relevant district.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • 1-2 years' experience as a CNA.
