Role Overview

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in the Emergency Department. As a key member of our radiology team, you will be responsible for prioritizing and coordinating ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient orders and examine requests to ensure accurate and efficient exam procedures.
  • Assist radiologists in the performance of invasive procedures and evaluate the technical quality of exams.
  • Develop and implement superior techniques to optimize efficiency in the department.
  • Support the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by providing exceptional patient care and understanding the needs of each individual.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Operate the Radiology computer system to enter and charge exams and supplies.

Requirements

Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) is required. A graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program is preferred. BLS certification is also required.

Physical Demands

The role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. Work requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting during normal operation.
