Career Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as a TANF Specialist. As a key member of our workforce development team, you will play a critical role in helping job seekers and career changers prepare for and advance in careers with a focus on sustainable, high-growth, high-demand industries.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, organize, and maintain accurate and up-to-date information in participant files, including logs of supportive services issued.
- Provide case management with a focus on helping customers prepare for employment that leads to self-sufficiency.
- Complete tasks from the menu of services selected by assigned schools.
- Schedule and conduct workshops, webinars, and other classroom activities to prepare students for career pathways.
- Coordinate online learning activities, assign courses related to individual employment plans and goals, and monitor progress.
- Administer pre/post-test assessments and document results in the state system.
- Conduct assessments of skills, aptitudes, and abilities.
- Research and identify appropriate curriculum to meet objectives.
- Ensure adequate preparation for training activities, including materials and room setup.
- Interpret employer feedback to tailor course content as needed.
- Collaborate with area businesses, advisory groups, and agencies to develop school-to-work opportunities.
- Investigate and share ideas regarding post-secondary options and adult services, and network with community agencies and organizations.
- Develop rapport with students to explore career options and interests.
- Keep school staff informed of input and status of assigned students.
- Encourage students to maintain career portfolios to document learning and skill attainment.
- Display a clear understanding of Chapter 339 and use it as the basis for planning student activities and community interactions.
- Work with students individually or in groups to problem-solve employment issues.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of instructional design and facilitation experience, preferably related to career preparation.
- Strong facilitation, public speaking, and guided learning background.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead learning processes and relate to diverse populations.
