Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned attorney with expertise in technology law to join our Corporate Counseling & Transactions Unit (CC&T) at State Farm. As a member of this team, you will advise on legal issues related to transactions for technology services, counseling business areas and the Purchasing Department on vendor contracts addressing privacy, data security, data licensing, and IP ownership/licensing.

About the Role

This position involves drafting and negotiating various technology agreements, including SaaS, PaaS, technology consulting, staff augmentation, and outsourcing agreements. In addition to contract negotiation, the selected attorney will serve as a counselor, advising business areas on allocating business and legal risks associated with vendor relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Advise on legal issues related to technology services transactions
  • Counsel business areas and the Purchasing Department on vendor contracts
  • Draft and negotiate technology agreements
  • Allocate business and legal risks associated with vendor relationships
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
  • An active license to practice law in at least one state and a member in good standing of the bar
  • The ability to obtain a limited license in IL if not already appropriately licensed in IL
  • 3-6 years of transactional experience, preferably with experience or acumen in the technology area
