Blood Banking Specialist Job Opportunity at New York Blood Center

We are seeking a skilled Immunohematologist Lab Technologist to join our team at the New York Blood Center. This role presents a unique opportunity to cultivate excellence by merging innovation with customer service, research, and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigative Work: Perform serological investigations on diverse patient samples to provide accurate results.
  • Consultation Services: Test patient and donor samples for consultation purposes, utilizing your expertise in immunohematology techniques.
  • Reporting and Data Management: Report findings to staff and generate reports, while also maintaining data in computerized systems and handwritten format.
  • Inventory Monitoring: Monitor antigen-negative donor blood inventory and distribution to ensure efficient management.
  • Quality Control and Testing: Perform quality control and proficiency testing to maintain high standards of work.
  • Client Consultation: Consult with clients on immunohematology issues, providing expert advice and guidance.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or higher degree in clinical laboratory technology or a related field.
  • One or more years of experience in immunohematology.
  • A current active NY State License as a Clinical Lab Technologist.
  • MT (ASCP) SBB or equivalent certification is preferred.

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
